“Whoever removes a grief from a believer from amongst the sorrows of this life, Allah will remove a grief from him amongst the sorrows of the Day of Resurrection” (Muslim)
Since 2017 there are over 1 million Rohingya refugees, including 400,000 children, fleeing violence in Myanmar to settle in Cox’s Bazar District, Bangladesh.
The tragedy of Rohingyas started decades ago but it received media attention in the last 4-5 years ago. Minority groups in Myanmar faced all types of direct and indirect violence.
After many days fleeting to safety, Rohingya find themselves arriving to overcrowded camps with very low standards of living with other humanitarian problems to deal with.
Now, the Rohingyas are a stateless, isolated, exhausted, marginalised, discriminated, facing starvation and poverty, and are desperately in need. Diseases are very common and disease transmission is easier amongst refugees, making the humanitarian crisis worse.
International organisations are providing medicines and vaccines to children against deadly diseases, others are providing projects such as safe drinking water. But Rohingyas refugees need more than this. They are in desperate need of essentials such as food, drink, shelter, medicine and clean water.
