IWARF has two programmes on the ground:
A statement from a local organisation working with Eritrean refugees describes the situating as:
’It’s as simple as this, thousands of refugees are one missed meal away from dying. They have no reserves, no energy or money to get food. Tomorrow is too late for them. It’s as simple as this’
Eritrea is commonly forgotten and ignored country. It is in the horn of Africa where millions of its citizens have scattered as refugees to surrounding countries. Fleeing from war and oppression. To counties that have their own problems and are not safe or secured for the refugees. The majority of the Eritrean refugees are found in refugee camps scattered in nearby countries including Yemen, Djibouti, Somalia and Sudan.
The needs for the Eritrean refugees are the basics such as food, water, shelter, medical aid, sanitation and basic education. Clean water is the most basic necessity which refugees, mainly women, have to walk hours for long distances to get clean water for their families. This is the state of Eritrea Refugee Camps for more than 50 year.
Emergency and Relief Work to alleviate the suffering of millions of refugees by providing them with emergency needs such as food and water as mentioned before.
